WEEKLY CHESS LESSON SCHEDULE

Check here for upcoming lesson cancellations. I am presently working on setting my teaching schedule for the 2008-09 school year.  Students should contact me by email with about 3 times that would work for lessons.  Please note that the new schedule begins effective Sunday, September 14.  I will be on vacation with my family (no chess) for two weeks immediately following the Labor Day weekend.

NOTES:

  1. All times are Pacific time zone.

  1. This weekly schedule is only for my serious chess lessons. Each student receives a 1 to 2 hour time slot, with the longer lessons being for more advanced students. I will guarantee a lesson longer than 60 minutes only for students rated over 1800.

  1. I expect students to be punctual for lessons. As a general rule for online meetings, students should plan to log into ICC at least 5 minutes early.

  1. I only accept new students if they are available during one of the open slots in this schedule. Please note that I reserve 1.5 to 2 hours each weekday for dinner and family time. Hence, most of my lessons will be between 3:30-6:00 and 7:45-10:00. Students who can attend between 1:00-3:00 (Early Afternoon) or 9:00-10:30 (Late Evening) stand a better chance of obtaining a time slot.

  1. Although I do teach on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings, students must expect an average of about 1-2 cancellations a month due mostly to weekend chess tournaments and sometimes to family commitments.

  1. I occassionally attend the Sacramento chess club on Wednesdays 5:00-10:00 (including travel). When I do go, I will attempt to find a temporary new time for my classes on that day, possibly on Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

  1. My goal is to limit myself to four lessons daily for no more than six hours total to minimize the chance of burnout towards the end of the day.

  1. I typically set my teaching schedule in August of each year, with minor modifications in January and June. If you need to change your time slot at another time, please understand that I will most likely have to switch you with another student. Therefore, I welcome any flexibility so that I can accompany students whose schedules do change.
