2007 National High School Championship -- PAGE 1

The Saratoga High School team, NM Daniel Schwarz and I traveled to Kansas City, Missouri, for the National High School Championship on April 13-15, 2007. We were joined by over 1400 other players, plus parents and coaches. It was quite a chess festival! In his last scholastic tournament ever, Daniel ended up winning the blitz tournament and then shared 8th place in the main tournament. David equaled the 8th place result. However, both were bested by local expert Michael Zhong's amazing run to a share of first place overall! Zhong became the second national champion from Northern California, matching my student Gregory Young's share of first in the National Junior High School Championship two weeks earlier in Sacramento. Photos by Stayton Chock and Michael Aigner.
